The character Tevildo appears in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Book of Lost Tales, taking the role that Sauron plays in the later Silmarillion. Tevildo is a cat prince who serves Morgoth, the original Dark Lord. The name "Tevildiel" derives from this character, although the -iel ending makes Tevildiel Princess, not Prince, of Cats.
